Making worship more accessible for everyone

The Know and Grow: Makaton in Christian Worship workshop explores how Makaton can help make church services, worship and faith-based activities more inclusive for people with communication difficulties.
Developed by The Makaton Charity in partnership with Count Everyone In, this specialist workshop combines everyday Makaton vocabulary with signs commonly used in Christian worship, helping churches create welcoming environments where everyone can participate and feel included.
What will I learn?
During the workshop you'll learn how to:
- Use everyday Makaton signs and symbols alongside speech.
- Sign vocabulary commonly used in Christian worship and teaching.
- Support people with communication difficulties to take a more active part in church life.
- Create more accessible, welcoming and inclusive worship experiences.
Whether you're a church leader, children's or youth worker, volunteer or member of a faith community, this workshop provides practical skills you can begin using straight away.
