Organisation Training Terms & Conditions

These terms apply to Makaton training booked by organisations with Better Communication Together CIC.

1. Booking confirmation

Submitting a booking form does not in itself confirm the booking. Your booking is confirmed once the workshop details, date and agreed fee have been confirmed by Better Communication Together CIC in writing.

2. Fees and payment

The agreed fee covers delivery of the workshop for up to the permitted maximum number of participants, together with the relevant workshop materials.

Payment is due within 30 days of the invoice date unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Where training is due to take place within 30 days of booking, an earlier payment date may be specified on the invoice.

The agreed fee is for the workshop rather than per participant. A reduction in participant numbers after booking will therefore not reduce the agreed fee.

Any additional costs, such as travel, parking or accommodation, will be agreed before the booking is confirmed.

3. Participant numbers and eligibility

The maximum number of participants depends on the workshop booked and must not be exceeded.

It is the organisation's responsibility to ensure that all participants meet the eligibility requirements for the workshop.

Where previous Makaton training is a prerequisite, participants must hold the appropriate certificate. Evidence of previous training may be requested.

Participants must be aged 16 or over.

Eligible participants may be substituted where necessary, provided the replacement participant meets any entry requirements for the workshop.

4. Workshop materials

Relevant workshop materials will be provided according to the workshop booked.

For Level 1–4 organisation training, Digital Learning Kit (DLK) access information will be supplied to the organisation for distribution to participants. The organisation is responsible for ensuring participants receive the information they need to access their materials before the workshop.

Workshop materials and DLK access are provided for participants attending the booked training and must not be shared beyond the intended participants.

5. Unused participant places

Organisation training is charged at the agreed workshop rate for up to the permitted maximum number of participants.

Where an organisation uses fewer than the permitted number of places, resources allocated to unused places may be used by Better Communication Together CIC to support subsidised places on a separate public workshop.

Depending on the workshop, these resources may include Digital Learning Kits (DLKs) or physical workshop materials.

This forms part of our Community Interest Company commitment to widening access to Makaton training.

6. Cancellation or postponement by the organisation

Organisation training bookings are non-refundable once confirmed.

If you need to postpone a workshop, please contact us as soon as possible. Where reasonably possible, we will try to agree an alternative date.

Any change of date is subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed. Costs already incurred in preparing for the original booking, including workshop materials or other non-recoverable expenses, may remain payable.

If a booking is cancelled rather than postponed, the agreed workshop fee remains payable.

7. Cancellation by Better Communication Together CIC

In the unlikely event that Better Communication Together CIC needs to cancel a workshop, we will offer an alternative date.

If a suitable alternative cannot be agreed, any workshop fee already paid will be refunded.

Better Communication Together CIC will not be responsible for other costs incurred by the organisation as a result of the cancellation.

8. Face-to-face training

For face-to-face workshops, the organisation is responsible for providing a suitable training environment and any equipment agreed in advance.

The organisation should provide accurate information about the venue, access arrangements and parking before the workshop.

Any venue-specific accessibility, security or sign-in requirements should be communicated in advance.

9. Online training

Online workshops are delivered via Zoom.

The organisation and participants are responsible for having suitable equipment, internet access and a suitable environment from which to participate.

Better Communication Together CIC cannot be responsible for disruption caused by internet, equipment or technical problems outside our control.

10. Licensed workshop content

Licensed Makaton workshops follow the programme and content specified by The Makaton Charity.

Workshop content cannot be changed or adapted outside the requirements of the licensed programme. Better Communication Together CIC can, however, help organisations identify the workshop most appropriate for their setting and training needs.

11. Acceptance of these terms

By confirming the booking, the organisation agrees to these Terms & Conditions and confirms that the person making the booking is authorised to do so on its behalf.
